Andere namen voor dit complex zijn<em>&#8220;hyperandrogene anovulatie (HA)<\/em>&#8221; of<em>&#8220;Stein-Leventhal syndroom<\/em>&#8220;.<br \/>\nHet is een veel voorkomende hormonale aandoening bij vrouwen die leidt tot een verminderd aantal ovulaties en daardoor de vruchtbaarheid van vrouwen vermindert.<br \/>\nHet is de meest voorkomende hormonale aandoening bij vrouwen tussen 14 en 44 jaar en een van de belangrijkste oorzaken van onvruchtbaarheid bij vrouwen. <em><strong>PCOS<\/strong><\/em> is het resultaat van een hormonale onbalans wanneer de hoeveelheid mannelijke hormonen die een vrouw produceert te hoog is.<br \/>\nHet is normaal voor vrouwen om mannelijke hormonen<em>(androgenen<\/em>) te produceren, net zoals het normaal is voor mannen om vrouwelijke hormonen te produceren.<br \/>\nMaar als de hoeveelheid mannelijke hormonen die een vrouw produceert iets hoger is dan normaal, veroorzaakt dit een aantal problemen die <em>PCOS<\/em> worden genoemd.<br \/>\nEr is een sterke relatie tussen PCOS en problemen in de suikerstofwisseling en insulineresistentie.<br \/>\nVrouwen kunnen al last hebben van PCOS in de maanden of jaren na hun eerste menstruatie.<br \/>\nMaar het kan ook eind 20 of begin 30 zijn wanneer men de symptomen van PCOS vertoont of herkent.         <\/p>\n<h2>Symptomen van het polycysteus ovariumsyndroom itemprop=\"blogPost\" ><div class='avia_textblock'  itemprop=\"text\" ><p>Er zijn een aantal symptomen die samenhangen met PCOS.<br \/>\nMeestal treden slechts enkele van deze symptomen op, niet allemaal.<br \/>\nDeze symptomen zijn:    <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>minder menstruaties of helemaal geen mentruatie (amenorroe), dus<\/li>\n<li>subfertiliteit of onvruchtbaarheid door het uitblijven van de eisprong.<\/li>\n<li>Obesitas en gewichtstoename.<br \/>\nVaker wel dan niet wordt er gewicht gewonnen rond de taille. <\/li>\n<li>Ongewenste, mannelijke haargroei op lichaam en gezicht, maar tegelijkertijd vaak dunner hoofdhaar.<\/li>\n<li>Acne, puistjes en vlekken en andere huidproblemen.<\/li>\n<li>Psychologische aandoeningen zoals een slecht humeur, slecht slapen of depressies.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>  Omdat niet al deze aandoeningen voorkomen, is het vrij ingewikkeld om PCOS goed te diagnosticeren.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/section><\/div><\/p>\n\n<style type=\"text\/css\" ><div class='avia_textblock'  itemprop=\"text\" ><h2>Symptomen die op PCOS lijken &#8211; maar GEEN PCOS zijn<\/h2>\n<p>  Er zijn andere aandoeningen die op het eerste gezicht op PCOS lijken.<br \/>\nMaar de symptomen worden veroorzaakt door andere omstandigheden.<br \/>\nJe arts zal normaal gesproken proberen deze aandoeningen uit te sluiten voordat hij PCOS vaststelt:    <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em>Congenitale bijnierhyperplasie<\/em> is een erfelijke aandoening waardoor het lichaam te weinig cortisol aanmaakt.<br \/>\nHet lichaam maakt ook te veel mannelijke hormonen aan.<br \/>\nSymptomen zijn bijvoorbeeld    <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>overmatige groei van gezichtshaar,<\/li>\n<li>minder, onregelmatige of geen menstruaties,<\/li>\n<li>verminderde vruchtbaarheid of onvruchtbaarheid,<\/li>\n<li>huidproblemen, zoals acne, zelfs al voor de tienerjaren.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><em>Prolactineoverschot<\/em>, dat overmatige haargroei van het mannelijk type en minder, onregelmatige of geen menstruaties veroorzaakt.<\/li>\n<li><em>Schildklieraandoeningen<\/em>, zoals een overactieve of onderactieve schildklier, veroorzaken meestal een onregelmatige cyclus.<\/li>\n<li><em>Het syndroom van Cushing<\/em> beschrijft een aandoening waarbij je lichaam te veel van het hormoon cortisol aanmaakt.<br \/>\nHet resultaat is opnieuw een overmatige en mannelijke haargroei, maar ook gewichtstoename.<br \/>\nHet cushing syndroom kan ook leiden tot depressies.  <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Diagnose van PCOS<\/h2>\n<p>  Om de diagnose PCOS te kunnen stellen, zal je arts vragen stellen over je menstruatiecyclus, je medische voorgeschiedenis opnemen en een algemeen lichamelijk onderzoek doen.<br \/>\nDe arts zal ook bloedonderzoek doen en je bloedsuikerspiegel en hormoonspiegels meten.<br \/>\nJe arts kan ook controleren op een groot aantal follikels door middel van een echografie.<br \/>\nDeze diagnose wordt vaak gesteld als je ouder bent dan 30 jaar.     <\/p>\n<h2>Behandeling van PCOS<\/h2>\n<p>  Onder de behandelmogelijkheden van PCOS springt de behandeling van PCOS met <em>amitamine\u00ae Ovarifert<\/em> eruit.<br \/>\nHet is
